Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas
Well, Merry Christmas, Twig friends.
We’re so grateful for you. We just wanted to pop in today—on Christmas Day—and say how thankful we are for each of you.
Wherever you’re watching from today—your living room, your kitchen, maybe still in your pajamas (good for you if you are)—or maybe you’re in a full house, surrounded by people, or perhaps in a very quiet space…
We want you to know this:
You are not alone today.
Christmas is the story of God choosing to come close—not just to perfect homes or people who have everything together, but right into the real, ordinary, sometimes very messy places of our lives.
So wherever this day finds you—
full of joy,
holding grief,
or somewhere in between—
may you know that Christ is with you.
Emmanuel: God With Us
That’s the heart of Christmas.
Emmanuel. God with us.
This is the day love has come near.
On this day—when heaven comes close to earth—we listen again for the story. The story that never grows old.
Maybe today you even want to open your Bible and read Luke 2 again.
The familiar story that reminds us of:
the decree
the long journey
the fact that there was no room in the inn
the child wrapped in cloths and laid in a manger
The angels announcing good news of great joy.
The shepherds running off in a hurry to see this miracle.
And Mary—treasuring all these things and pondering them in her heart.
Remember the angel’s words:
“Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
This Is the Day Love Has Come Near
Poet Jan Richardson writes these beautiful words:
“This is the day that love has come among us,
that hope has taken breath,
that heaven has bowed low enough to touch the earth.
May this day open your eyes
to the nearness of God already at work within and among us.”
May that be true for you today.
Wherever you are.
However you’re feeling.
May your eyes be opened to the nearness of God—already at work within you and around you.
A Christmas Blessing
So from all of us here at The Twig:
Merry Christmas, friends.
Much love to you today.
May you know peace.
May you know hope.
May you know that God is with you.
Merry Christmas.
